What this wire is

Welding titanium is unforgiving. Dirty wire? Bad weld. Wrong filler? Cracked weld. No shielding? Useless.

Industrial pure titanium wire for welding is made for one job - feeding clean, consistent filler into a titanium weld. Grade 1 and Grade 2. Pure titanium. No alloys. No surprises.

Chemical plants use it. Marine fabricators use it. Aerospace shops use it. Anyone welding titanium uses it.

Pure vs alloy filler - why pure?

Most welders use pure titanium wire even when welding alloy base metal like Grade 5. Here's why.

Alloy filler (ERTi-5) is strong but brittle. Pure titanium wire is more forgiving. It bends. It stretches. It doesn't crack under weld shrinkage.

For welding Grade 1 or Grade 2 base metal, use matching wire.

For welding Grade 5, many experienced welders still grab pure titanium wire. The weld ends up a bit weaker but much tougher. For most jobs, that's the right trade-off.

Industrial pure titanium wire for welding gives you ductile, clean filler that won't ruin your weld.

Which grade to use

ERTi-2 is the workhorse. Stronger. Stiffer. Used for most industrial welding. Match it with Grade 2 base metal.

ERTi-1 is softer. More ductile. Lower strength. Used for Grade 1 base metal, thin sheet, or when you need maximum formability in the weld.

For industrial pure titanium wire for welding, 90% of what we sell is ERTi-2. ERTi-1 is for special cases.

Where you'll see this wire

  • Chemical plants. Welding titanium reactor linings and heat exchangers. Leaks are not optional.
  • Marine shops. Welding seawater pipes and pump parts. Weld has to last in salt water.
  • Aerospace repair stations. Welding airframe parts. Full traceability required.
  • Desalination plants. Welding titanium in hot brine service.

Every single one of these jobs starts with clean wire. No oxide. No oil. No hydrogen pickup.

Cleanliness is not optional

Titanium welding is simple. Clean everything. Shield everything. Don't contaminate.

Industrial pure titanium wire for welding comes pickled and cleaned from our shop. Ready to weld. No prep needed.

But after you open the spool, it's on you.

Don't touch the wire with bare hands. Skin oil kills titanium welds. Keep spools covered in a dry area. If the wire gets dirty, wipe with acetone before using.

Welding quick guide

Use pure argon. 99.997% minimum. No other gases.

Shield both sides of the weld. Torch gas and back purge.

Clean the base metal. Degrease. Remove oxide by grinding or chemical clean.

Weld color tells you the truth:
Silver or light straw = good.
Blue or purple = bad shielding.
White or grey = scrap it.

No preheat. No post-weld heat treatment for most jobs.

ERTi-2 welds with ERTi-2 filler. ERTi-1 with ERTi-1. Don't mix grades.

Wire handling

Titanium wire is stiffer than aluminum. Softer than steel.

For TIG welding, hand feed or use a cold wire feeder. Works fine.

For MIG welding, use a push-pull feeder or spool gun. Long liners cause problems.

We supply wire on standard spools (100mm, 200mm, 300mm). Straight cut lengths also available for TIG welding.

FAQ

Q: ERTi-1 or ERTi-2 - which do I need?

A: ERTi-2 for most jobs. ERTi-1 only if you're welding Grade 1 base metal or need very soft, ductile welds.

Q: What certs come with the wire?

A: Mill test reports with heat number. AWS A5.16 cert. EN 10204 3.1 standard. 3.2 available. Third-party inspection on request.

Q: Lead time?

A: Stock diameters ship in 3–7 days. Non-stock sizes take 3–4 weeks.

Q: Packaging?

A: Spools in sealed bags with desiccant. Boxed. Labels show heat number, grade, diameter. Straight lengths in bundles with plastic sleeves.

Bottom line

You don't buy industrial pure titanium wire for welding because it's fancy. You buy it because titanium welds fail with dirty or wrong filler.

ERTi-2 for most jobs. ERTi-1 for soft welds. Clean wire. Consistent diameter. Full traceability.
